In the pursuit of creating balanced lifestyles,
Nanjing International School provides numerous opportunities
for students to participate in extra-curricular
activities. The school believes that after-school
activities are an integral part of the overall education
process for our students. Our after school activities
program aims to provide students with opportunities
to cultivate and enrich existing skills, explore
new areas of interest and to grow physically, socially
and cognitively. We seek to offer a broad range
of activities over the course of the school year
in an effort to reach out to the varied interests
of our students.
Elementary Students may choose a maximum of two
activities, while secondary students can participate
in a maximum of three, per cycle. Activities offered
by teachers are charged on a cost-only basis,
if there is a consumable materials cost or entrance
fee. For Activities which involve employing an
outside expert, such as Martial Arts, Kite Making,
or Instrumental Tuition, then that cost is divided
equally between the number of students participating.
In addition, the school also organises age-appropriate
“Mega-Events” throughout the year
– race around Nanjing, sleepovers, adventure
trips to other cities are examples of past activities.
NIS students compete through the Association
of China and Mongolia International Schools (ACAMIS)
in a variety of sports and other events during
the course of the year. This often involves travel
to another city, and has the added benefit of
enabling students to make friends with their counterparts
in other international schools in China. NIS also
hosts ACAMIS tournaments. For information on ACAMIS,
